Verified professionals
What “verified” means here, and what it does not
Most directories sell placement and call it a recommendation. We do not have a directory you can browse, and this page explains exactly why, what we check before we introduce anyone, and what we will never do.
Why there is no directory to browse
A public directory sounds useful and is usually the opposite. Once a list exists, position on it becomes the product, and the people who pay most end up at the top. You cannot tell from the outside whether a listing reflects quality or a marketing budget, which is precisely the problem you came here to avoid.
So we built the other way round. You describe your plot, budget and timeline. We match you to professionals who actually fit that brief, and we show you what we checked about each one. Nobody buys their way into your shortlist, because there is no list to buy into.
We are also being straight with you about scale: we are early. Our bench is small and growing deliberately rather than quickly, because a large bench of unchecked names would defeat the point. If we do not have a good fit for your brief, we will tell you that instead of introducing someone who does not fit.
What we actually check
Three tiers, and we tell you which ones a professional has cleared before you speak to them. A higher tier means more has been verified, not that we endorse the outcome of your project.
| Tier | What we verify | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Identity checked | Registered business, GST or equivalent registration, verifiable address, and a named authorised contact who answers for the firm. | That their work is good. It proves they exist and can be held responsible. |
| References reviewed | Recent customer references we contact ourselves, where the customer permits it, on completed projects rather than showcase ones. | That your project will go the same way. References are a sample, not a guarantee. |
| Performance monitored | Response time to briefs we send, feedback from homeowners we introduced, and how complaints were resolved. Reviewed continuously, not once. | Nothing about work we did not route. We only see what passes through us. |
The four things we will never do
These are commitments, not aspirations, and they are the reason this page exists.
- We will never sell a verification tier. No professional can pay to be identity checked, reference reviewed or performance monitored. They earn it or they do not have it.
- We will never sell ranking or position. Matching is driven by fit to your brief: location, scope and budget.
- We will never pass your details on without your consent. Submitting a brief is not consent to be contacted by anyone we choose. You approve each introduction.
- We will never present a paid placement as a recommendation. If we ever run sponsored placements, they will be labelled as such, on the page, and kept entirely separate from verification.
How matching works, step by step
You submit a Build Your Home brief describing the plot, what you want to build, your budget range and your timeline. We read it. If we have professionals who genuinely fit, we come back to you with who they are and what we verified about each.
You decide who, if anyone, you want to speak to. You can decline every introduction and keep using the tools and guides; nothing here is contingent on you hiring anyone. If you do proceed, you contract directly with the professional. We are not a party to your build contract, we do not hold your money, and we do not take a cut of your project value from you.
How we earn, stated plainly
Professionals pay us when we connect them to a genuine, consented enquiry that fits their scope. You pay nothing, and the price a professional pays does not change where they appear or what tier they hold. That is the whole model, and it is why the tools and guides on this site are free and carry no email wall.
Our first construction partner works with us under a limited pilot, reviewed on real outcomes rather than fees paid. We do not grant permanent city-wide exclusivity to anyone, because a captive supply side stops serving you the moment it stops competing.
If you are a builder, architect or specialist
We are adding to the bench. There is no fee to apply and no fee to be verified. What we ask for is a registered business, relevant experience for the work you take on, a response-time commitment you will actually keep, and proposals that state inclusions, exclusions and warranty terms in writing. Apply on the partner page.
